Congratulations! You’re investing in your own health by starting a new exercise regimen. Exercise and diet are vital to maintaining a healthy and strong body and mind. As you start this new program, it is important to remember that like any other routine, varying your activities will keep your brain, as well as your body, engaged.[1]

Boredom is the certain death of any consistent exercise plan. Change up how you work out to avoid this potential derailment. If you’re stuck in a rut on the treadmill, take a spin on a bicycle (indoors or outdoors). If you’re bored of your daily walks, take a class in dance, yoga or even boxing! Does your gym offer aerobics classes or strength training sessions? Give it a whirl. Try something different three times a week. Not only will your brain thank you, but so will your body. Cross-training like this works more of your muscle groups and can help you achieve a greater level of fitness.[2]

To ensure you keep moving, keep it varied and keep it fun. Fun is boredom’s kryptonite. Expand your athletic horizons and you never know what you might learn about yourself.
